"Two Birds, One Millstone" is the 21st episode of How to Get Away with Murder.

Summary[]

Annalise takes on a new client, a transgender professor accused of killing her husband. Meanwhile, the Keating 5 are left to handle the Hapstall case and they discover a shocking new suspect.[2]

Plot[]

Episode opens with Frank and Laurel having sex in Frank’s apartment. When Frank goes to shower, Laurel looks through his belongings before joining him, a choice she later blames on Wes “making [her] crazy”. Oliver tries to guess what crimes Connor might be going to jail for but Connor instead seduces him away from that discussion. In class, Annalise calls on Asher to describe the case of United States v. Mahoney, where there was no verdict. The topic of discretion is brought up, leading to a scene where Annalise tells Bonnie Asher agreed not to testify. Annalise attempts to instruct the K-5 on the Hapstall case when her friend Jill Hartford calls, having killed her husband. Annalise leaves the K-5 to try to find a new suspect on their own while she deals with Jill’s case.

Asher, Connor, and Wes believe accusing Catherine and Caleb’s birth parents might be a viable strategy, which both Caleb and Michaela vehemently oppose. Michaela reveals she was adopted. Later, Laurel notices Catherine had been recording them. Annalise yells at the K-5 for badmouthing their clients in front of them. Frank then informs her that Nia Lahey has died.
