How to Get Away with Murder Wiki

"You're acting way more stupid than you are right now. Because whatever you and your friends did has put us all in danger. And the fact that you have come to talk to me about that here in a public place tells me you have no idea how scared you should be. And that's saying a lot, considering all the scary things I've seen in my life. Don't text, call, or ambush me, ever again."
—Tegan Price to Michaela Pratt after the events of the party.[src]

Tegan Price is a main character on How to Get Away with Murder. Once the right hand of Antares Technologies CEO Jorge Castillo, Tegan became a whistleblower for the FBI upon learning that Jorge was responsible for the death of District Attorney Todd Denver. Tegan was the managing partner of Caplan & Gold's Philadelphia branch, succeeding Emmett Crawford.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

"It's hard to find anything about you."
—Nate to Tegan[src]

As noted by a frustrated Nate Lahey, little is known about Tegan prior to the start of her legal career. Tegan graduated from Stanford Law School,[1] and passed the bar at "the geniously young age of 22"[2]. Five years after her internship at Unger and Pace[3], Tegan was hired at Caplan & Gold. According to a press release, Tegan has practiced law for 15 years, with 10 of those years at C&G. [4]

While working at the Mexico City branch, Tegan Price made partner and also became Jorge Castillo's personal attorney, handling nearly all of his personal and professional affairs. During her time there, Tegan's siblings, parents and grandparents were killed in a plane crash. Tegan turned to Jorge to help her cope with her grief (though she refuses to elaborate how). As a result, Tegan has remained, in her own words, "under [Jorge's] thumb". ("Family Sucks", "I Want to Be Free")

Season 4[]

"I hate most the people at this firm. But I work with them because I'm a boss bitch and I'm trying to make you one."

After the arrival of the new legal interns, Tegan and Blake gather all of the interns in the center of the room. But before they can do that, Tegan catches intern Michaela making a personal phone call. Once gathered around, Blake informs the interns about the Hell-Bowl, a tradition that the partners arrange at Caplan & Gold; where the interns go head-to-head until they are left with just four interns. Those interns will then go head-to-head and the final intern will win the tournament. The prize is a massive bottle of champagne and the option to choose which partner that they want to work under.

At the end of the first round, Michaela, Simon and two other interns make it to the final four. The tournament then takes a break for a little while. While studying, Tegan catches Michaela making fun of Simon behind his back and calls her into the other room. Once there, she tells her not to let him in her head as by doing that, she is giving him the upper hand. She also explains that she better win as she has bet 2 grand on her winning. Back at the tournament, Michaela wins again and is faced against Simon. Simon answers wrong but Michaela answers correctly and wins the tournament. Michaela later brings her a glass of champagne and tells her that she chose her as the partner that she wants to work with. Tegan asks her why she chose her and Michaela lists Tegan's accomplishments while working at the firm such as her large caseload and the fact that she works on Antares Technologies. ("It's for the Greater Good")

At Caplan & Gold, Tegan introduces her intern, Michaela to Soraya (their client) who happens to have brought Annalise, her co-council. Annalise, Soraya, Tegan and her intern, Michaela meet with Soraya's ex-husband Raul and his lawyer. Raul's lawyer hands Tegan an affidavit and a flash drive containing videos of Soraya throwing up in her children's bathroom. After the meeting, Soraya explains the video. The two lawyers throw around different ideas. Soraya pipes up and decides that she wants to go after her ex-husband. After Annalise drafts the first section of the counter-suit and goes to Tegan for her help, she refuses. Annalise tells them that she will do it herself.

Annalise later accidentally sends the counter-suit to a board member of Middleton University. Tegan gets Michaela to call Annalise over. Annalise then races over to Caplan & Gold where she walks into the meeting room where Soraya is on the phone with a member of the Middleton board as she is losing her job. Once Tegan leaves Annalise and Soraya alone, Annalise reassures Soraya that she will fix her mistake. Outside the office, Tegan mocks Annalise as a legal relic but comments that Annalise "is still hot. I"ll give her that."

The following day, Annalise arrives at Caplan & Gold where she brings up the idea to get the judge to give them Raul's therapy notes. Tegan then goes to the judge and gets the notes and they find something that will win them the case. They use the information in order to get the opposing side to agree to joint custody. After winning the case for Soraya, Tegan offers Annalise a job if she wants it. ("Was She Ever Good at Her Job?")

Tegan giving Michaela a reward. ("I Love Her")

At the firm, Tegan calls Michaela into her office where she asks her to sit down but changes her mind and asks her to stand. Michaela, confused, thinks that she is in trouble but Tegan reveals a box of shoes that she bought for her for all of the good work that she has done for her and the firm. Tegan reminds her that if she keeps up the good work then she could be looking at a permanent job at the firm. Still dazzled by the gesture, Michaela tries on the shoes and flaunts then at all of the other interns at the firm, especially Simon. At the end of the day, Tegan leaves her office and passes Michaela's desk on the way out. Michaela asks if she needs anything doing before she leaves and Tegan tells her to put the shoes to some use and leaves the office. After Tegan leaves, Michaela takes advantage of her empty office and uses Oliver to hack into her computer and access a locked file on Trent Stockton. However, they run into a few difficulties and end up triggering an alarm on the system. They quickly close the file and leave her office. ("I Love Her")

Around a week later, Jorge Castillo arrives into Philadelphia to Caplan & Gold and calls an emergency Antares Technologies meeting with the partners at the firm. On her way to the meeting, she passes Michaela's desk and asks her to follow her. Arriving at the elevator, Tegan informs Michaela of the emergency meeting and Michaela wonders if whether it was called because of her accessing the file the previous week. On the floor of the meeting, Tegan finds the other partners of the firm gathering outside the room. Tegan asks Blake why Jorge would come all the way over there. Blake thinks that it is to fire them but Tegan reassures him that if he was to fire them then he wouldn't make the effort to come all the way from Florida just to fire them. Michaela overhears Jorge's name and is curious but Tegan tells her to get on with the work. Soon as Michaela leaves, Tegan and Blake approach Jorge and she talk to him in Spanish. After greeting each other, the three start the meeting.

Not long after the meeting, Tegan asks Michaela to get her some fast food. Michaela assumes that the food is to compensate for how bad the meeting with the CEO of Antares went but Tegan tells her that she is simply hungry. As they're talking, Asher walks over and introduces himself to Tegan. At the end of the day, Michaela comes into her office and offers her a bottle of gin to share to get her to talk about the meeting. The two have a heart to heart and Tegan ends up telling her about her ex, Cora. She also tells her that Antares plans to go public and that with the new deal, she can practically open up her own firm. ("Stay Strong, Mama") Tegan laments the loss of her relationship with Cora but says that it has all been worth it.

407TeganJob

Tegan calls Michaela into her office and tells her that she wants her to arrange a party for the upcoming Friday at the firm. Michaela gets worried as it isn't a lot of time to arrange a party. To make matters worse, Tegan also asks her to invite everyone from the firm, including the interns which is around 300 people altogether. Noticing Michaela's worry, Tegan asks her if she wants her to ask another intern which triggers Michaela to jump up and accept the challenge. ("Nobody Roots for Goliath")

Party at Caplan & Gold[]

408TeganGiveBag
Tegan handing Michaela her bag before her speech. ("Live. Live. Live.")

That Friday at the party, Tegan approaches Michaela and her boyfriend, Asher. Tegan praises Michaela by saying that she pulled off a great party for such a short space of time. Tegan tells the two that she is nervous about her speech later on and that she cannot wait for it to be over so that she can actually enjoy the party. Michaela offers to hold her clutch bag while she talks to the other attendees but Tegan turns her down by saying that the bag never leaves her side. To try and get her to hand the bag over, Asher makes a comment that the bag doesn't go with the dress to which Tegan gets slightly offended. Michaela saves her boyfriend by saying that he was joking. Putting all of that aside, Tegan tells the two that she is going to Donald so that he can praise her for making the deal with Antares Technologies. Later on in the night, members of the board begin to make speeches. Michaela stands close to Tegan and offers again to hold her bag. Tegan finally agrees, gives her the bag and goes up to give her speech. While Tegan is giving her speech, Michaela removes the key card from Tegan's bag and hands it to Asher. Not long after finishing her speech, she hears Michaela shouting for help and goes over to her. Her face and dress are covered in blood. Tegan tries to get Michaela to concentrate so that she can tell her what happened. Michaela tells her that he had a gun and shot himself. ("Live. Live. Live.")

409TeganConfrunt
Tegan confronting Michaela in the elevator. ("He's Dead")

After the police arrive, they question everyone at the party. Realizing that something is wrong with the situation, when Michaela tries to leave to go to the hospital to see her friends, Tegan stops her from getting the elevator. Tegan confronts her over Asher's arrest and Simon's possession of her keycard. She claimed Simon stole it, to which Tegan told her, "You’re not as good a liar as you think." Later in the night, Tegan is still at the firm, dealing with the mess. Dominick, questions Tegan about the breach in their security with the Antares Technologies servers. Tegan assures him that even though was a breach, they have no reported files missing. Dominick asks her how she is sure and she tells him that there are logs in place that show that nothing has been removed. Dominick is still not satisfied and asks for someone from the I.T. department to verify what she is saying. Tegan looks around and tells him that Lazlo has already gone home for the night but she will arrange a meeting with them for the following day. Dominick shakes his head and asks for the other guy who was a witness to the shooting. Tegan reluctantly gives him Oliver's name. He thanks her for her cooperation and leaves. ("He's Dead")

410TeganParkingLot
Tegan finding Michaela in the parking lot. ("Everything We Did Was For Nothing")

Following Tegan's acknowledgment that Michaela played a part in what went down at the party, Tegan neglected to answer any of Michaela's texts. At work, later on, Tegan was visited by Nate who asked about the altercation with Asher and Simon during their first time at the firm. Tegan lies and dismisses his theory and claims that people in the office tend to make things up to keep things interesting in the office. Confirming what Tegan said, Nate asks if she thinks that it was really a suicide attempt. "Don't you," Tegan replies. Nate asks whether anyone in the firm knows anything about an Antares Technologies conspiracy to which Tegan reminds him that anything that the people who work for the firm about the company is protected by the attorney-client privilege. On her way to her car at the parking garage that night, she found Michaela waiting for her. Michaela acknowledged that she shouldn't be there but she claimed that she couldn't live with herself if Tegan missed the IPO announcements because of her. Tegan chuckled and told Michaela "it's remarkable how important you think you are." Determined to get to the bottom of why Tegan covered for her, Michaela persistently asks why lied to the police. Tegan reminds her that because of Michaela and her friends, they all in danger and that Michaela has “no idea how scared you should be.” Because of this, Tegan tells her that they shouldn't talk anymore. ("Everything We Did Was For Nothing")

414TeganBathroom
Tegan cornered in the bathroom by Michaela. ("The Day Before He Died")

After Simon wakes from his coma, Tegan becomes his lawyer. He then remembers that he saw Laurel the night of the party. Tegan then sets up a meeting with the police so that the could tell them about what he had remembered. Annalise soon finds out that Tegan is Simon's lawyer while trying to get information on Isaac at the front desk at the hospital. Tegan strolls up to her and tells her she has to leave, but not before Annalise gets in a few jabs about Tegan’s real boss being Jorge Castillo and representing Simon being a conflict of interest. But they can’t tell Simon any of this because Tegan’s set up security and banned unauthorized visitors, including Oliver, from his room.

While going to the restroom, she is cornered by Michaela in order to distract her so that Oliver could convince Simon to fire Tegan and hire Annalise so that they could blackmail him into not telling the police about Laurel. Michaela tells her she’s on the wrong side with Mr Castillo and laying it on thick about her being a powerful woman allowing herself to be controlled by a corrupt man. Tegan finally gets into Simon’s room, which is now Oliver free. But their plan worked — Simon fires Tegan and tells her he’s cancelling his meeting with the detectives because he didn’t see Laurel there that night; he was confused. ("The Day Before He Died")

415TeganFBI
Tegan hearing that Jorge Castillo was arrested. ("Nobody Else Is Dying")

While working in her office at Caplan & Gold, Tegan is approached by Annalise. Annalise informs Tegan that they have the hard drive with the files on Antares Technologies, but admits that there is no evidence of illegal activity. Annalise pleads with Tegan for help, knowing that Tegan is their only chance at obtaining justice. Tegan remains loyal to Jorge; when Annalise reminds her that she could be charged as a co-conspirator in any of Jorge's current illegal dealings, she merely tells Annalise to "get the hell out of my office".

In a last-ditch effort, Annalise informs Tegan that Jorge killed the district attorney, warning Tegan that "this isn't worth dying for." Seemingly unaffected, Tegan tells Annalise to leave. Defeated, Annalise tells Tegan that she is making a mistake. Tegan responds that she is the one making the mistake, then cites a number of legal code citations, reminding Annalise that Jorge is protected by client-attorney privilege. At the same time, however, Tegan pulls out a legal pad and writes, “I’m in.”

In exchange for anonymity and full immunity for any possible crimes, Tegan provides the FBI with the information needed to put Jorge behind bars at last. Tegan is listed as Jane Doe in the case paperwork, allowing her to go back to Caplan & Gold without anyone knowing about her part in Jorge's arrest. ("Nobody Else Is Dying")

Season 5[]

"Isn't this getting boring? I'm tired of the cat-fighting. I'm guessing you are, too. Now, we're two grown-ass women who work well together. So let's stop killing each other."
—Annalise to Tegan[src]

Following Jorge's arrest and the demise of Antares, Caplan & Gold’s reputation takes a nosedive. Emmett Crawford steps up as the firm's new managing partner and moves from London to Philadelphia to try and fix the firms diminished reputation. Shortly after Annalise's Supreme Court victory, Emmett, along with a number of high-end law firms, invites Annalise in for an interview. On the day of the interview, Tegan confronts Annalise and voices her disapproval in her taking a job at the firm as she believes that Annalise could shine a light the fact that she turned Jorge into the F.B.I. During the conference with the four partners (Emmett, Tegan, and two others), Annalise gives her demands to which Emmett mostly agrees. However, Annalise informs the partners that she doesn’t think that they are a good fit and leaves. Over time, all of Annalise's other job offers are receded due to the governor interference. With this, Annalise has no choice but to return to C&G. After much arguing, Emmett reminds Annalise that she walked away from C&G; as a result, some concessions would need to be made to the original offer. Annalise refuses to budge and she leaves again. Minutes later, Emmett gives into Annalise’s demands and calls her to tell her to come back in so that they can sign the paperwork He tells Annalise that he was the only partner who voted for her employment, meaning that Tegan voted against Annalise's employment (albeit out of fear of being outed, not dislike for Annalise). ("Your Funeral")

Tegan is aggravated that Michaela is a part of Annalise's legal clinic, and she's upset that Laurel is also one of Annalise's students. At first, Annalise tries to assuage Tegan's fears, reminding her that she "saved [Laurel's] ass" and that neither of them had any reason to give her trouble. When Tegan continues to sulk, Annalise admonishes Tegan for her attitude and encourages Tegan to work with her, not against her. Likewise, Laurel tells Emmett that her mother Sandrine was Jane Doe. Out of gratitude (or possibly fear), Tegan pulls strings to have Christopher enrolled in C&G's daycare centre.

Eventually, Tegan warms to Laurel, as well as Connor (another one of Annalise's legal clinic students) and Oliver (who was hired by Emmett to work in the IT department). She still has no affinity for Michaela, who cannot understand why Tegan has forgiven everybody except her. Finally, after Michaela confronts her one too many times about their ruined relationship, Tegan lays out her anger:

"You knew what I gave up for this job — my girlfriend, friends, a family. It was worth it because I was about to be crowned king of this firm. But look at me now - playing second fiddle to Annalise and taking orders from another flawed white man who keeps failing up. And if that weren’t bad enough, I have to see you in the halls, giddily building your career while mine’s on life support. We’re way past you making anything damn right, Michaela."
—The Baby Was Never Dead

Eventually, Tegan's animosity towards Michaela largely (but not completely) fades. It is Michaela who largely steers Tegan into filing a civil suit in the death of Nate Senior; Michaela serves as her assistant to counsel.

Over time, Tegan goes from being Annalise's adversary to her strongest supporter. She implores Emmett to keep Annalise from leaving Caplan and Gold to accept a (fake) offer from Birkhead. When Annalise does just that, Tegan beseeches Emmett to hire Annalise back after Annalise realizes that the governor's offer was solely to get Annalise to quit C&G. Emmett refuses to hire Annalise back, so Tegan calls up her connections at C&G's London branch to learn information about Emmett's misconduct charges. Annalise confronts Emmett with this information, offering to help him beat the charges. In exchange, Emmett re-hires Annalise. When Agent Claire Telesco relentlessly pursues charges against Annalise during Operation Bonfire, Tegan intervenes by having sex with Telesco, then reporting the incident to Telesco's supervisor, thus getting her thrown off the case entirely.

Emmett decides to run for district attorney in order to replace the deceased (and disgraced) Todd Denver. He informs Tegan that he plans for her to take his spot. Before he gets the change to tell the senior partners, however, he (supposedly) has a heart attack.

Season 6[]

"A lesbian woman of color running a major law firm. I'm a damn unicorn."
Do You Think I'm a Bad Man?

Tegan finds Emmett Crawford on the floor, convulsing. Tegan tried to give Emmett CPR to no avail. A horrified Tegan then calls Annalise to report the news. Annalise, already overwhelmed with Laurel's disappearance and sitting at a bar, hangs up on Tegan and orders a drink. Because Tegan was the only one present when Emmett died, the FBI deems Tegan a suspect, especially since Emmett's death solidifies Tegan's rise to managing partner.

Emmett's body was transferred to London under the orders of the other C&G partners. Because the move was signed off by Tegan, Nate Lahey is certain that Tegan was behind his death, and he confronts her about the events of that night. Tegan angrily recalls the memory of seeing Emmett's body and all she did to try to save him. She throws Nate out of her office. Emmett's autopsy is eventually ruled a heart attack, but Tegan believes that Emmett was poisoned at the behest of the Castillos and Governor Birkhead. Nate continues to be suspicious of Tegan.

Tegangetout
"He was my friend and you are not. So get the hell out." Tegan to Nate Lahey. ("Say Goodbye")

Following Emmett's death, Tegan is appointed managing partner as Emmett planned. ("Say Goodbye") In the beginning, Annalise largely ignores Tegan's new position of power, much as she did with Emmett. After a sharp reprimand from Tegan, Annalise acknowledges that she feels "too safe" with Tegan. They reconcile, and Annalise ends the conversation by calling Tegan "boss". ("Do You Think I'm a Bad Man?") Unlike Emmett - who largely managed C&G from afar - Tegan is an in-the-trenches kind of leader, working side-by-side with her attorneys. She also oversees Annalise's law clinic, managing the law students when Annalise is not available. Despite Tegan's animosity towards Nate, she serves as his attorney in a civil suit against the state, which results in a $10 million settlement offered by the state of Pennsylvania. ("I Want to Be Free") She also works with Bonnie regularly on legal matters despite having fired her on two separate occasions ("I Hate the World"), albeit very briefly, and ("Family Sucks").

Prior to Tegan's promotion to managing partner, Laurel approached Tegan with help in escaping Philadelphia with Christopher, threatening to tell her father about Tegan's deal with the FBI if she did not help out. Tegan does so, hiding her role in Laurel's disappearance until Laurel outs herself to Connor, Michaela, Oliver and Asher five months later ("Are You the Mole?"). During Annalise's murder trial, Laurel further reveals that Tegan assisted her father Jorge in negotiating for Laurel's release during her kidnapping ten years prior. As a result, the prosecution argues for (and Annalise agrees to) Tegan's removal from counsel, though she is allowed to remain as assistance to counsel (now Annalise herself). ("Annalise Keating Is Dead").

Wiki2
"Screw [Jorge]. Screw the governor. I want to be free." A self-liberated Tegan smiles outside the courthouse, where Annalise has been cleared of all charges.

As Tegan is now openly on Annalise's legal team, it is easy for Jorge to deduce that Tegan was the informant that put him in prison; still, fingering Tegan in open court puts her life in mortal danger. Once again, Laurel approaches Tegan for help. Tegan, fed up with Laurel's numerous betrayals, tells Laurel that she is own her own, even after Laurel tells Tegan that Jorge killed her mother Sandrine. Unmoved by Laurel's warning of bodily harm, Laurel offers Tegan millions of dollars worth of property if Tegan agrees to do "something that will help both of us".

In the series finale, Jorge is mortally wounded in prison. As he bleeds to death, the camera cuts to a smiling Tegan, no longer under Jorge's thumb - and with millions of dollars' worth of property to show for it. ("Stay").

Personal Life[]

Marriage to Cora[]

"I loved Cora, not just for the sex. But I love my job more."
—Tegan Price to Michaela Pratt about Cora[src]

Upon returning from Mexico City and settling in Philadelphia, Tegan entered into an ill-fated relationship with Cora Duncan. In season four, Tegan cautions Michaela not to end up like her, lamenting that she'd given up the best sex of her life for her job. While Tegan loved Cora ("and not just for the sex"), Tegan admits that with the public proceedings of Antares, everything she'd lost - including Cora - would be worth it. ("It's for the Greater Good", "Stay Strong, Mama", "Do You Think I'm a Bad Man?") It isn't until much later that Tegan is forced to admit that Cora is her wife, not her girlfriend and that she is stalling the divorce by not signing the paperwork.

During her time at C&G Mexico City, Tegan received stock from Barrington Holdings, which is currently owned by Laurel Castillo (in name only). Bonnie, who secretly read Tegan's divorce papers, informs Tegan that the stock's dividends had doubled since her split with Cora. Tegan is surprised to learn that the stock is currently worth half a million dollars, and Bonnie urges Tegan not to sign the settlement. However, Tegan replies that Cora could have all of the stock, referring it as "blood money from the Castillos" and saying she regretted what she'd done to get it. ("I Hate the World")

With encouragement from Annalise (who tells her at one point to "sign the damn papers"[5]), Tegan finally moves forward with the proceedings. She invites Cora to the C&G office to handle the legal matters, largely to show off her new office and position. There, Tegan learns that the relationship her wife had been in (with a man named Patrick) had been over for six months and that Cora hadn't told Tegan this because she feared Tegan would want to reconcile their marriage. Furious, Tegan tells Cora she was going to take her for all she was worth, and Cora leaves the office in tears.

Tegancry1

The "crowned king" of C&G Philadelphia.

Later that evening, Annalise invites Tegan to her apartment. There, Tegan tearfully confesses that she's still in love with Cora. She attempts to reconcile with Cora the next day, but Cora informs Tegan that she no longer loves or misses her and that their relationship was over. Tegan graciously accepts this news, signing the paperwork with no further resistance and assuring Cora that she was fine with their marriage finally ending. She repeats these words ("I'm fine, I'm fine...") once Cora leaves, but soon collapses sobbing on the floor. Contrary to her past declarations, Tegan realized too late that the position she now held at Caplan and Gold was not worth losing the woman she loved.

Relationship with Annalise Keating[]

"I cannot not have you in my life because I love you...I can make you happy."
—Tegan to Annalise[src]
Tegalise1

Tegan fends off a potential (male) suitor with help from Annalise. (Are You the Mole?)

In season four, Annalise and Tegan are mortal enemies, with Annalise determined to put Jorge Castillo in prison and Tegan determined to stop her. By season five, the two have warmed to each other, and are depicted as close friends in season six. Annalise refers to Tegan as her rock[6], and Tegan jokingly declares at a party that she and Annalise are married.[7]

Though she tries to hide it over the years, Tegan's affection for Annalise is apparent to everybody but Annalise. The mere suggestion of this repeatedly flusters Tegan, much to Emmett Crawford's amusement. At one point, Tegan's ex-wife Cora asks Tegan outright if she likes Annalise - this despite the fact that Cora had never even met Annalise. Nate bitterly comments that Annalise has "gotten under [your] skin" when Tegan encourages him to reach out to Annalise, and Robert Hsieh chastises Tegan for representing a client she is attracted to while Tegan is Annalise's lawyer during her murder trial.

In the series finale, while Annalise and Tegan are waiting for the verdict to her conspiracy trial, Tegan (who is no longer Annalise's attorney but still on her legal team) finally tells Annalise that she is in love with her - a revelation that seems to genuinely surprise Annalise. Annalise gently rejects Tegan's offer of love, telling her she deserved to be with a woman who could give her the love and happiness that she was offering to Annalise. Though visibly devastated, Tegan remains on Annalise's team for the rest of the trial.

TeganFuneralBoard

The memory board at Annalise's funeral, which reveals Tegan's reunion with Annalise. (Stay)

Tegan is last seen dancing happily with Annalise at a salsa club shortly after Ophelia's. A picture of that night can be seen on Annalise's memorial board at her funeral. No other love interests of Annalise's are shown, implying that Annalise and Tegan became romantically involved after the trial. However, the creator of the show stated during an interview with EW that the ending (including the nature of Annalise and Tegan's relationship) is open to interpretation.

Tegan's final fate is unknown, as she is not present at Annalise's funeral. Because Annalise's flash forward depicts just three events - the death of her mother, her reunion with Tegan and her alcoholic relapse - it is heavily implied that Annalise's self-proclaimed "ride or die" passed away before she did, thus re-triggering Annalise's alcoholism.

Murders Committed[]

  • Jorge Castillo: After being paid by Laurel, Tegan orchestrated for Jorge to be stabbed by a couple of inmates in prison. ("Stay")

Trivia[]

  • On October 5, 2017, it was announced that Amirah Vann would portray an unknown recurring character on How to Get Away with Murder's fourth season. The name and role of her character wasn’t revealed until her debut episode aired, "It's for the Greater Good".[8]
  • On July 18, 2018, it was announced that Vann would be promoted to series regular for the show's fifth season.[9]
  • Tegan is one of two main characters who speaks a second language (Spanish). The other is Laurel Castillo, who speaks Spanish and French.
  • Tegan's pronunciation of the name Castillo differs greatly from the way all the other show's characters pronounce the name, including the Castillos themselves. The Castillo family (along with actors Karla Souza and Esai Morales) is portrayed as having Mexican roots. Therefore, the name is pronounced "Cah-STEE-yo."  Amirah Vann is of Puerto Rican descent, resulting in the pronunciation "Cah-STEE-jo".
  • In seasons four and five, Tegan refers to Cora as her girlfriend. In season six, it is revealed that Cora is Tegan's wife. Because Amirah Vann was not made a series regular until season five, it is uncertain whether this discrepancy was a writing error or if Tegan was lying about her marriage.
  • Her drink of choice is Bombay Sapphire gin, as shown in The Baby Was Never Dead.
  • From her first appearance in season four to the series finale, Tegan is one of only two main characters who could not be tied to a murder (the other being Gabriel Maddox) by the final season. She is also the character with the most amount of episodes depicting her as being unrelated to a murder (26)[10] With the arranged murder of Jorge Castillo in the finale, Tegan becomes the show's last main character tied to a murder (directly or indirectly).
  • In Annalise Keating Is Dead, it is revealed that Tegan is a huge Game of Thrones fan, declaring herself Annalise's khaleesi .
  • Tegan was originally meant to be the love interest of Michaela Pratt, who was going to explore her possible bisexuality with her. The idea was abandoned after Nowalk was unable to create a series of events that would have made the relationship possible. [11]
  • Following the show's conclusion, creator Peter Nowalk names Tegan as a character he wishes he got to explore further. "Tegan is a character that we said a lot about her backstory, but didn't get to show it and didn't really get to fill in the spaces. That's a character that I think has a lot of question marks left that may frustrate people. But our original people's stories, I owed to it to those characters to spend more time with them."[12]
